Special Needs

There are a number of play elements within the Kidspace centre that will be beneficial for those with disabilities, none more so than our Multi-Sensory area which has fibre optic lights, touch pads, and an infinity room. The very nature of our soft play centre and the use of our gym will make it a great day out for everyone.

Travelling by car: Special Needs parking is available on the same floor as Kidspace at The Brewery. There is a lift to the first floor situated by The Brewery Atrium entrance.

Pricing: With documentary proof of a physical disability (i.e. blue/orange badge or similar)  we can offer the following discounts - Up to two carers per child can redeem complimentary admission during term time and a discounted rate of £1.50 per carer during peak times (this cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer).

Extra information may be relevant to guests with special needs, in addition to general play equipment restrictions (including height, size, and loose item restrictions) that are applicable to all guests. Detailed information will be available at the centre and it is the responsibility of all guests to check these before deciding to play. As well as taking note of the restrictions, we strongly suggest that you watch other children participating in activities before making a decision as to whether your child is able to get involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When is the quietest time to visit at the weekend?
A. The weekend and holidays are very popular and time restrictions apply. To get the most out of your visit why not make it an early start or a teatime visit? 11am until 3.30pm are the busiest times.

Q. What should my children wear on the equipment?
A. For the comfort, health and safety of all our customers, both children and adults must be wearing socks whilst on the main playframe.  For your convenience, socks can be purchased at reception if you forget yours.

Children wearing 'crocs', 'heelies' or any 'open-toed sandles' will not be allowed to participate on the climbing wall or sky trail so we would recommend that children wear trainers or 'closed-in' shoes when visiting Kidspace in order to enjoy all that we have to offer.

We always recommend that children come ready to play dressed with long sleeved tops that can tuck in, long trousers and socks.

Q. What is the age range at Kidspace?
A. We have facilities designed for the 0 to 12 year olds. The under 5’s have their own separated area.

Q. Is it easy to park?
A. Yes. Kidspace Romford is in the Brewery which has a pay-on-foot car park with over 1000 spaces.

Q. Why are weekend and holidays more expensive?
A. The weekend and holiday prices are our normal entry prices and we discount these in our quieter times to encourage parents and children to visit.

Q. What classes do you offer?
A. Both sites offer a variety of different activities, classes and events throughout the year, call them direct to find out availability.

Q. Why are Annual Pass holders allowed to queue jump?
A. A/P & Q/P holders are only allowed to fast track at quieter times. At busier times they have to queue with normal admissions as stated on their terms & conditions.

T&C’s state:
* There is no automatic right of entry without queuing, however we will endeavour to fast track ‘Annual VIK Pass’ holders whenever possible.

Q. If my child has an Annual Pass, why can’t another adult bring them in using it?
A. Annual & Quarterly Passes are non transferable as stated in the terms & conditions. The pass is for a single family to take advantage of this generous offer. Additional adults can be added to the pass at a small cost of £20.

T&C’s state:
* ‘Annual VIK Passes’ are not transferable. Any misuse of the pass, (including another person using your card) will result in confiscation without compensation and refused entry for that person.

Q. Why do I have to complete a registration form, do you need my full details, can’t I just give my mobile number?
A. This is a requirement imposed upon us from child services, the local EHO and our Public Liability insurers all for the reason of safety and security for child and parent/guardian.

Q. Why can’t an older sibling supervise a younger child?
A. As above we have to adhere by requirement imposed upon us from child services, the local EHO and our Public Liability insurers. An adult is classed as a parent or guardian over the age of 18 and the child/children remain their responsibility at all times when in Kidspace. This is for the safety and security of their children.

Q. Why can’t we pop out and come back in?
A. The child/children remain the responsibility of the parents/guardian at all times when in Kidspace, if they leave our demise this negates their responsibility. If the parent/guardian wants to leave our premises they will have to take all their children and belongings with them. This is for the safety and security of their children. For children to be left on our premises we would have to register with Ofsted as a creche facility and this would incurr additional charges. * Adults must remain on the premises for the full duration of their child’s stay.

Q. Why do adults have to pay?
A. We price our facility, as do most businesses, on return for investment. As an Indoor Adventure Park, our investment is significantly greater than your traditional old style play centre with ball pits and simple play frame. We therefore price our facility accordingly and give parents the opportunity to join in and participate on all the activities with their children, to allow them to spend quality time together. We have also put considerable investment into the surroundings to give parents plenty of seating and leisure facilities in a relaxed and pleasant environment.

We believe our pricing is fare when compared to what you would have to pay if taking your child to the cinema, bowling or Legoland, all comparable activities parents would do with their children. We do have Annual/quarterly passes (from £60) available which gives a child and two parent’s unlimited visits throughout the year, fantastic value I am sure you will agree?

Q. Why don’t we offer a disability discount?
A. We do not offer a discount directly to the person with a disability but we do allow the Carer free admission with the correct proof of identification. We also arrange set timed sessions with groupssuch as PACT.

Q. Can I bring my own food and do you have a picnic area?
A. Unfortunately not. We have gone to the trouble of becoming a licensed restaurant and as such have to adhere to strict regulations as laid out by the Health & Safety Excecutive. These regulations are the same stipulated for any restaurant and do not permit members of the public to bring food other than that prepared on the premises. This is with the exception to baby food. We do not have any allocated area on our premise for picnics and you will be asked to put your food away our leave the premises to eat it. We do not allow re-entry.

Q. Can my children get out, are they safe?
A. All parents have to register themselves and their children as they enter Kidspaces. They are then given a receipt with the number of adults and children clearly marked and allowed to enter through a controlled gate access. On exit all guests are requested to show their receipt to allows us to checkthe number of adults and children leaving again vie a controlled gate exit.

Q. Am I allowed to take photos or video footage of my children?
A. There is no law that prevents you taking images of your own children, but you will have to be mindful of other customers children and their privacy. We do not allow customers to take general shots of the facility only close ups of their kin.

Q. What time is the last admission?
A. We allow admission up to the final hour before we close.

Q. How many children can I bring?
A. The ratio of adults to children is 1 adult to 4 children. This is the recommended ratio to enable the adult to offer the correct duty of care.

Q. Are there any additional costs?
A. Your admission fee covers your entry and use of all facilities. There may be additional cost for some of the classes and events. At Romford additional goes on the Go-Karts are only £1.

Q. How long can we stay?
A. Peak times - we have a maximum stay time of 2 hours at our Romford site during busy weekend and holiday periods on a standard admission. There is an extended admission price available for a 4 hour stay at an additional cost of £2.50 per person. Off Peak times - There is no time restrictions in place.
